Description: Huguenot Street, a unique historic setting, is located on a slight promontory above the banks of the Wallkill River at the western edge of the Village of New Paltz.  The settlement was originally the focus of a 39,683 acre Royal Patent granted to the French refugees on May 26, 1677. Adjacent to the site is the Huguenot Trail and Wildlife Sanctuary. The site comprises a collection of seven houses dating from the 1700s.  Included are five Colonial-era stone houses, a Federal-period house and a late Victorian house. Also located on the site, are the French Church and burying ground, a carriage museum, library and archives.

 

Collections: The homes are furnished with heirloom and period pieces that reflect their multi-generational family ownership. Things made or used on Huguenot Street, or by descendants of the original settlers.  The archives contain documents and photographs relating to New Paltz families, New Paltz town records & Huguenot history.
